Scotland football expert tips from BBC

Kilmarnock v Rangers (1230)

Kilmarnock v Rangers

Kilmarnock started with a bang, hammering Hamilton on the opening day, but they have laboured a bit since then and haven't picked up any more points.

I can't see that changing on Saturday since Kilmarnock's record against the Old Firm isn't great.

Kevin Kyle will be back leading the line and he is always a threat, so I fancy the home side to score.

Rangers will be on a high after a good Champions League result but they had to put in a real shift against Stuttgart.

Walter Smith only has a small squad to play with and tiredness could be a factor, although the visitors should have enough to win this one.

Prediction: 1-3

Aberdeen v St Mirren

Aberdeen v St Mirren

I saw Aberdeen at Falkirk on Monday and they did not play well at all.

They have been struggling in front of goal, although three clean sheets in a row is something to build on.

The home crowd will demand three points but St Mirren are a stuffy side to break down and this promises to be a close encounter.

The Buddies were pretty lucky to get a point at home to St Johnstone last weekend but they are often better on the road, when the other team has to take the attacking initiative.

Prediction: 1-1

Dundee Utd v Motherwell

Dundee Utd v Motherwell

Both of these teams are unbeaten so far and had great results against the Old Firm last weekend.

United are looking strong and they still have a couple of good strikers to come back from injury, so their fans can look forward to a tilt at third place with some confidence.

Motherwell are benefitting from the fearlessness of youth and Jim Gannon has them very well organised.

They are really pulling for each other out on the park but I'm tipping United to edge this one simply because of home advantage.

Prediction: 2-1

Hamilton v Falkirk

Hamilton v Falkirk

It might seem a bit ridiculous at this early stage of the season, but this is a huge game for the sides in the bottom two places at the moment.

The Accies pulled off a great win from nowhere last week, although they did benefit from a couple of gifts from a sloppy Hibs side.

Falkirk have played well in patches this season but have yet to turn in an impressive showing over 90 minutes.

It will be a day for rolling up the sleeves and I can see this one ending in a draw after a real hard slog.

Prediction: 1-1

Hibernian v St Johnstone

Hibernian v St Johnstone

Hibs will want to get a hugely disappointing display at Hamilton out of their system after making a solid start to the campaign.

John Hughes will demand a reaction and a decent home crowd should ensure Hibs are fired up for this game.

The home side have a lot of dangerous attack-minded players and St Johnstone have been looking lively, so there should be a few goals.

The Saints created a lot of chances at St Mirren and I can see an open, end-to-end contest at Easter Road.

Prediction: 3-1

SUNDAY 20 SEPTEMBER

Celtic v Hearts

Celtic v Hearts

Celtic slipped up last week and found it hard going against a disciplined Dundee United side.

Hearts can be similarly stubborn and will have Marius Zaliukas back from suspension to shore up their defence.

Aiden McGeady should return for Celtic and, if he's in the mood, then Tony Mowbray's side will always have a dangerous attacking outlet.

Fatigue may be a factor after a midweek trip to Israel but I think Celtic will be too strong for the visitors from Edinburgh.

Prediction: 2-0
