Aberdeen v Dundee United

This fixture brings back great memories for me. I always loved playing in this one since it is such a keenly contested rivalry.

Aberdeen are showing signs of gradual improvement, but they are drawing too many games. A long overdue goal for Lee Miller last week will have boosted his confidence, but he will find it hard going against a well-organised United defence.

United are carrying a few injuries and were far from their best last time, when they drew with Hamilton, but they are always hard to beat.

There's very little between the sides and I just can't separate them.

Prediction: 1-1

Hearts v Falkirk

Hearts have yet to turn in a solid 90 minutes this season. They didn't get going last week until Aberdeen had scored.

They did create a few good chances at Pittodrie and having Andrew Driver back is a big bonus, so I think they will win this one.

However, it won't be as easy as many people might think because Falkirk are sure to come out fighting.

The Bairns are really toiling at the moment. Eddie May's team finally got a goal last weekend then threw away their lead with some terrible defending.

Prediction: 2-1

Kilmarnock v St Johnstone

Kilmarnock made life difficult for Hibs last weekend, but they didn't really cause enough problems in the final third.

At home, the onus will be on them to be on the front foot and this promises to be an open, entertaining match.

St Johnstone have been a real breathe of fresh air with their positive approach and they were so unlucky not to take anything from the game with Rangers.

Collin Samuel was a real handful up top and they get lots of runners from midfield to support him.

Prediction: 1-1

Rangers v Hibernian

Rangers may be sitting top of the league but there is colossal pressure on them after the disappointing Champions League result on Tuesday.

They were sluggish against St Johnstone and the loss of Madjid Bougherra and Pedro Mendes does nothing to improve matters.

John Hughes and Brian Rice were sitting behind me at Ibrox and will have taken heart from how easily Unirea exposed Rangers' frailties.

Hibs will undoubtedly have their moments, but there has been such a lot of talk of a possible upset and we all know what happens then. I don't think it will be pretty, but Rangers will be solid and doubly determined to get the job done.

Prediction: 2-0

St Mirren v Motherwell

St Mirren have been going along very nicely and I'm tipping them to make it three wins on the bounce on Saturday.

The home win jinx has finally been put to bed and that's five goals in two games for a team who have often struggled in front of goal.

Motherwell did brilliantly to earn a draw at Celtic Park and Jim Gannon puts a really strong emphasis on organisation.

I think it will be a stuffy tactical battle, with both sides working hard to cancel each other out, and a single goal might be enough.

Prediction: 1-0

SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER

Hamilton Accies v Celtic

The Accies earned a great point at Tannadice last week, although the last-gasp equaliser will have knocked the stuffing out of them.

Billy Reid will want to reflect on the positives against Dundee United and make sure his side don't give Celtic a moment's peace.

Celtic lacked imagination in the final third against Motherwell but will have been pleased to keep a clean-sheet after their recent defensive troubles.

It will be a tough match. But, if the visitors play anywhere near their best, it should see the three points going back to Glasgow.
