Predictions in english Чемпионат Шотландии
Пятница, 27 Август 2010

SATURDAY 28 AUGUST

Aberdeen v Kilmarnock

Aberdeen v Kilmarnock

Dream start to the new SPL season for the Dons; top of the league, six points out of six, five goals for five, zero against and into the next round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup comfortably. Manager Mark McGhee must be delighted the way his new look side have gelled together so quickly. Five of last Saturday's starting 11 are new to the club.

I expect there to be a big home crowd at this game. Can they keep their winning run going and winning games as there is nothing better for confidence than that? Pittodrie must be buzzing just now, although Fraser Fyvie being out for the season is a huge blow for the kid and the club.

Kilmarnock on the other hand are bottom of the league and they need to get a point on the board and soon. As winning becomes a habit, losing does also. They played well and dominated in the opening 45 minutes last Sunday against Motherwell without really creating a chance and that must be a worry for boss Mixu Paatelainen.

Having said that they had a big win in the league Cup, but I think goals here will be harder to find on Saturday.

Prediction: 2-0

Inverness CT v Hamilton Accies

Inverness CT v Hamilton Accies

What a brilliant result for Caley last weekend. I don't think even manager Terry Butcher could have predicted a 4-0 win against Dundee United. Adam Rooney off and running with a double in that game and a screamer from Kevin McCann, the youngster on loan from Hibernian.

Home form is what will keep Terry's team in the SPL. It is a very difficult place for teams to go and games against Hamilton, if Caley can win, will be vital as I expect both teams to be in the bottom six.

Hamilton have had a disastrous start; hammered 4-0 two weeks in a row and put out the Cup to First Division leaders Raith Rovers. Confidence will be very low and it will be manager Billy Reid's task all this week before the game to lift spirits. There is no point feeling sorry for themselves and saying all the players they have sold would have made them a better team, we all know that.

They have to go with what they have and dig out a result. Teams do things differently when playing in Inverness, either travel on a Friday and stay up or go on the Saturday morning, which is a long time before a game on a bus. Whatever they decide to do, it has to be right. Tough away trip again for Accies.

Prediction: 2-0

Rangers v St Johnstone

Rangers v St Johnstone

Rangers got a great three points in a tough tussle at Easter Road and Kenny Miller topped the goalscoring charts with a great hat-trick.

But on Saturday I expect to see the new fans' favourite at Ibrox make his starting debut. Vladimir Weiss should replace the suspended Kyle Lafferty, who may be out the team for a while if the youngster can produce the form I have known about since first seeing him play as a 15-year-old. He's a tricky old fashioned winger type who beats men for fun and will provide Miller with chances to keep him scoring.

St Johnstone go to Ibrox with one point. Derek McInnes said there was nothing between his side and Aberdeen last week and there are fine lines between winning and losing. He will be happy with their midweek win against Morton in the Cup but this will be a really tough fixture for the Saints, though they may have Dave MacKay back from injury.

If Saints get anything from this game then that is a bonus but they won't want a heavy defeat for confidence reasons. Games like this won't determine where Saints end up in the SPL. I'm glad I don't play left-back anymore for Saints against Weiss.

Prediction: 3-0

SUNDAY 22 AUGUST

Motherwell v Celtic

Motherwell v Celtic (1200BST)

Motherwell have started the season reasonably well, won one lost one in the league. Missing out on the Europa League group stages will be a disappointment and would have brought much needed revenue to the club.

As always, Craig Brown's teams are so well drilled in the art of not giving much away and I expect this to be the same in this match. They will make life very difficult for Celtic with Craig's trademark cross over throw ins and set piece play

Celtic's new players have settled into the SPL and they have the youthful energy of James Forrest who looks a star in the making. They are scoring goals for fun and are still to concede a goal in the league but they had a massive disappointment going out heavily to Utrecht in the Europa League.

They have to bounce back and quickly. No European football, although the fans may not agree, means manager Neil Lennon has no distractions now in his pursuit of the SPL. I expect Neil to keep up his 100% record in the SPL as caretaker and manager.

Prediction: 0-2

St Mirren v Hibernian

St Mirren v Hibernian (1415BST)

Danny Lennon has to learn quickly what the SPL is all about and put last weekend's thumping at the hands of Celtic and the long disappointing trip to Dingwall where they were knocked out of the Cup on penalties to the back of the players' minds.

Home games like this one and three points are vital if they are to survive. Craig Dargo back from injury will help and make Saints a better team. He has experience and the willingness to work hard and link up with his midfield and, given chances, he will score goals.

Last Sunday was not the way Hibernian wanted to celebrate the opening of their new stand and they will want back to winning ways. I think the 4-4-2 they played last week, although they lost, is the way to go for them.

Manager John Hughes likes to play 4-3-3 but that leaves them light in the middle of the park and they can get over run in there. Kevin McBride will be suspended and Michael Hart is out injured so it will be a chance for others to come in. Another tough one for the home side

Prediction: 1-2

Hearts v Dundee United

Hearts v Dundee United (1500BST)

Hearts will hope that the training accident does not keep Calum Elliot out of this fixture as he was the main man for them in there biggest win in four years and not many Hearts fans can say they predicted that.

Elliot was booed by sections of the fans last term and deserves enormous credit for his early season form. The fans should get right behind him, he will learn so much from Kevin Kyle, who got his second goal for the club in their 4-0 win in the Cup against Elgin Ruben Palazuelos will be suspended and will be a loss.

Dundee United have had a poor start to the SPL by last year's standards and suffered a really heavy defeat at the hands of Inverness last Sunday.

The players who hit the heights last season have still to reach that level and they were a team who last season were hard to score against. They need to get back to that level of consistency and performance. They have also had a long and unsuccessful trip back from Greece, where they were knocked out of the Europa League by AEK Athens. A high tempo Hearts performance against a tired Dundee United team.

Prediction: 2-0
